The Prym reflective carry-along thread (art. no. 977500) is a silver reflective-coated effect yarn that you work together with your normal yarn when knitting or crocheting. Hats, arm warmers or wrist warmers then have the effect of a reflector. This is particularly useful in the dark months of the year, in traffic and when exercising outdoors.

At 0.5 mm thick and 50 m long, this thread is the fine version. It adds hardly any bulk and can also be carried along with thinner yarns. The 50 m help you plan quantities: you can spread the thread over several pieces.

Working with the carry-along thread

Hold the thread together with your yarn when casting on or making the foundation chain and continue with both strands as if they were a single strand. This works the thread into every stitch and keeps it evenly distributed across the piece. Choose the needle size to suit the main yarn. It is best to knit a tension swatch with the thread included, as the additional strand can change the stitch appearance slightly.

Which thickness to choose

The 0.5 mm, 50 m thread is the finer version; the Prym reflective carry-along thread in 1 mm and 25 m is thicker. For thinner yarns and a discreet reflective thread, choose the 0.5 mm version.
