Prym Hooks and Eyes No. 13 in Black – Rustproof Fasteners for Bodices and Corsets

Prym hooks and eyes no. 13 fasten bodices, corsets and basques. You get 6 on a card. They are made of black coated, rustproof brass and are burr-free. That matters because fasteners on bodices are often under heavy strain, and sharp edges can irritate fabric and skin.

The loops are curved at the sides, which makes the hooks and eyes easy to sew in. The hooks are rounded. According to Prym, this keeps the bodice comfortable to wear even against bare skin. For professional use, Prym also offers size 13 in packs of 1,000, and in silver colour.

Sewing in hooks and eyes

First mark the positions on both edges of the opening so that hooks and eyes sit exactly opposite each other. The hooks go on one edge, the eyes on the other. Sew them on through all the loops using strong thread and firm stitches. Position each eye so that it projects slightly beyond the edge and the hook catches securely. On a longer row of fasteners, the closure sits more evenly if you measure the spacing beforehand.
