Décopatch Mini Kit Elephant – cardboard figure with paper

Décopatch Mini Kit Elephant – decoupage a cardboard figure with paper and glue-varnish

The Décopatch Mini Kit Elephant is a decoupage kit for covering a small cardboard elephant figure. It comes with everything you need to get started: the figure, 2 sheets of Décopatch paper measuring 30 × 40 cm, a small pot of glue-varnish and a brush. The figure measures 12.3 × 5.7 × 6.8 cm and works as a small decorative piece for a shelf or windowsill.

According to the manufacturer, the kit is recommended for ages 5 and up. It is made in France. As the paper, glue and brush are already included, you do not need to buy any other materials.

Covering the elephant

The technique is simple: you need no previous experience, just a little patience when working in small steps.

• Tear or cut the paper into pieces of approx. 2 × 2 cm.
• Use the brush to apply some glue-varnish to one area of the figure.
• Place a piece of paper on top and brush a second coat of glue-varnish over it.
• Carry on piece by piece until the figure is completely covered.

Tips for a neat finish

Let the pieces of paper overlap slightly at the edges so that the cardboard does not show through. Torn edges blend into each other more softly than cut ones. With only 2 sheets, it helps to plan your pattern beforehand: think about which areas of the paper will look best for the head, ears and body.
