Prym ergonomic chalk wheel pen – fine chalk lines on fabric

The Prym ergonomic chalk wheel pen from the prym.ergonomics series marks cutting lines, markings and seam allowances on fabric. At the tip sits a fine toothed wheel that draws a clearly visible, fine line with powdered tailor's chalk. After sewing, you wash the line out or brush it out.

The barrel is ergonomically shaped so that you can mark comfortably, even during longer sewing sessions. It is suitable for right and left-handers. The chalk wheel won the Red Dot Design Award in 2010.

How to mark

Guide the toothed wheel over the fabric with light pressure, ideally along a ruler or a template. The powder runs over the wheel and stays behind as a fine line. Pressing hard is not necessary and does not make the line any clearer. Test the marking on a fabric scrap first, especially on dark or textured fabrics, so that you can see how easily the line can be removed later.

Refilling the chalk

When the chalk has run out, you insert a new cartridge; you do not need to replace the pen. Prym offers replacement cartridges in white and yellow. White chalk shows up better on dark fabrics, yellow on light ones.
