Rico Design wash mitt for embroidery – with an Aida border for your own cross stitch designs

The pink wash mitt from Rico Design is an embroidery blank for anyone who wants to make a personal bathroom piece or a gift in cross stitch. It is made of 100% cotton, measures 15 x 21 cm and has a woven-in Aida border at the top, where you stitch your design. According to the manufacturer, it is a fluffy quality, and a hanging loop is sewn onto one side.

The Aida area is 5 cm high and has 5 holes per centimetre, so you have 25 stitches available in height. Choose a chart that is no taller than this, for example a name, a border or a small motif.

Embroidering the wash mitt

Count out your design from the chart before you start and begin in the middle of the Aida area so that it sits centrally. Stitch with a blunt-tipped tapestry needle so that you find the holes of the Aida rather than piercing the threads. The mitt is washed at up to 60 °C, so use colourfast embroidery thread and check the details on the skein label. Finish off the back neatly and do not run the threads in long stretches across the back, so that nothing snags.
