Phoenix Tweed from Lang Yarns is a thick, fluffy knitting yarn made of 93% virgin wool (extrafine merino, mulesing-free) and 7% polyamide. According to the manufacturer, it comes as a large, generous ball with colourful neps and is chunky weight. On thick 7–8 mm needles, your knitting grows quickly.

What to knit with Phoenix Tweed

Thanks to its thick strand, the yarn suits projects that need to be quick to finish and warm, such as hats, scarves, snoods, arm warmers or jumpers. The merino content gives soft, fluffy stitches, and the polyamide adds extra strength to the strand. The colourful neps bring colour and texture even to a simple stitch pattern. That is why stocking stitch, rib or moss stitch work well, whereas elaborate cables or lace patterns are less visible between the neps.

Knitting and tension

Knit with 7–8 mm needles. For a jumper or other larger pieces, convert the total length given in your pattern into balls: one ball has approx. 270 m. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. The manufacturer gives 9 stitches and 16 rows over 10 × 10 cm. For washing, Lang Yarns recommends a wool detergent without fabric softener.
