Kreul Glass & Porcelain Classic Set – glossy paints for glass and porcelain

The Kreul Glass & Porcelain Classic Set contains six opaque, glossy water-based paints for painting glass, porcelain, ceramics, terracotta and metal. The set includes 20 ml each of yellow, red, blue, green, cognac and black, plus a brush and instructions. The paints are ready to use, dry quickly and are lightfast. After baking, the surface looks smooth and glossy, like glazed ceramic.

According to the manufacturer, the paints consist of at least 60 % raw materials of natural origin. You can apply them opaque or transparent, depending on how much paint you pick up on the brush.

Baking the paint

For the paint to be durable after baking, the correct order of steps matters.

• Clean the surface and make sure it is free of grease.
• Apply the paint with the brush; thin layers dry faster and run less.
• Leave the painted piece to dry for 4 hours.
• Place the piece in a cold oven and bake for 90 minutes at 160 °C.
• Leave to cool in the oven before removing, so that glass and porcelain are not exposed to temperature shock.

Surfaces and limitations

Baking is suitable for heat-resistant materials such as porcelain, glass, ceramics, terracotta and metal. According to the manufacturer, the paint also adheres to non-heat-resistant materials such as acrylic glass, mirrors and many plastics. You cannot bake it in the oven on these, so test adhesion on an inconspicuous area first. Only paint surfaces that do not come into contact with food, such as vases, tealight holders, decorative bowls or gift items.
