Staedtler Mars micro carbon 1.3 mm HB Leads – break-resistant refills for mechanical pencils

Staedtler Mars micro carbon leads with a 1.3 mm diameter and HB grade are refill leads for mechanical pencils with a 1.3 mm lead size. You can write and draw with them on paper and drawing card. The tin contains 6 leads.

The lead is elastic and therefore very break-resistant. It glides smoothly over the paper and gives a rich, dark line. It is made without PVC, and over 90 % of the raw materials are based on renewable natural resources.

Who is a 1.3 mm HB lead suited to?

HB sits in the middle of the hardness range: the lead is soft enough for a dark line and hard enough that the line does not smudge straight away. At 1.3 mm it produces a bold line that suits sketches, hatching and notes. For very fine detail you will need a thinner lead.

Using the leads correctly

It is important that the lead diameter matches your mechanical pencil: the pencil must be designed for 1.3 mm, otherwise the lead will jam or slip through. Load the pencil following the manufacturer's instructions. Advance only as much lead as you need for working. If too much lead protrudes, it breaks more easily.
