Faber-Castell 1.4 mm super-polymer pencil leads, grade B – break-resistant refills

These replacement leads from Faber-Castell (art. no. 121411) are refills for mechanical pencils taking 1.4 mm leads, especially the e-motion. The tin holds 6 extra-thick leads in grade B. They are made of super-polymer and, according to Faber-Castell, are extremely break-resistant and particularly smooth-gliding. That pays off if you press harder when writing or sketching and don't want to keep replacing broken leads.

Grade B gives a soft, deep black line. Faber-Castell lists writing, drawing and sketching as uses.

Which pencil do they fit, and how do you refill?

According to Faber-Castell, the leads fit e-motion pencils. For other mechanical pencils, check before buying that they take a 1.4 mm lead. The handy filling aid lets you refill cleanly and easily. The leads stay protected in the tin until you need them.

What is grade B for?

B is softer than HB and releases more graphite. This gives a dark, rich line that suits sketches, bold lines and soft shading. In return, the lead wears down faster under heavy pressure than a harder one. The thick lead also makes the line stronger.
