Sakura Solid Marker Glow-in-the-Dark – glow paint marker for many surfaces
The Sakura Solid Marker Glow-in-the-Dark (XSC-300) is a solid paint marker with photoluminescent pigment. You can use it to mark surfaces that glow in the dark. According to Sakura, the pigment is safety grade and glows brighter than novelty-grade pigment. The marker meets the luminance standard ASTM E2072-02.
It writes on smooth, rough, wet or damp surfaces. Sakura lists ceramic, concrete, glass, plastics such as PVC and ABS, rubber, steel and iron, wood, paper and card as suitable. On textiles the marking is not washable. Uses range from safety and directional markings on building sites and in warehouses to workshop and craft projects.
How long does the marking glow?
According to Sakura, the afterglow lasts for up to 30 minutes. How long and how brightly it glows depends on the light source (intensity and distance), the length of exposure and the thickness of the layer. Use the marker as an aid to orientation in the dark; it does not replace mandatory safety signage.
Use and limitations
The twist-up mechanism pushes the stick upwards, and the cap keeps it ready for use between applications. You can trim the 13 mm wide stick with a knife for narrower markings. The paint dries within 10 minutes and is water-resistant on most surfaces.
- Do not use on acidic surfaces with a pH value below 2.0.
- Cleaners containing alcohol remove the paint from most non-porous surfaces.
- On textiles the marking is not washable.
