Artist Color Sketch Markers, set of 24 – dual tip, water-based, can be used with water
The Eberhard Faber Artist Color Sketch Marker set of 24 contains 24 markers with water-based ink for sketching, hand lettering, comics and illustration. Each marker has two tips: a 0.8 mm fine tip for precise lines and a flexible brush tip that draws line widths from 1 to 10 mm. The colours are lightfast. Eberhard Faber also calls the set Artist Color Dual Brush Pen.
Because the ink is water-based, the colours can be blended and used like watercolours. According to Eberhard Faber, the Artist Color series is designed for semi-professional artists, students and school pupils. You can also use the markers for cards, layouts, colouring books and DIY projects.
Using the two tips
Use the fine tip for outlines, details and small lettering. Use the brush tip to fill areas and vary the line width with pressure. In hand lettering, thick and thin lines work like this: downstrokes with more pressure, upstrokes with light pressure. Always press the cap back on firmly after drawing so that the ink does not dry out.
Blending colours and watercolour effects
Apply the colour to the paper first, then go over it with a wet brush or water brush: the ink dissolves and spreads softly. To blend, place two colours next to each other and join them with the damp brush. Work with little water and let the area dry in between so that the paper does not cockle. Thin paper is less suitable for wet work; thicker paper is better.
