Miyacozome DYE ACCELERATOR – dye aid for deeper colours on polyester
Miyacozome DYE ACCELERATOR is a dyeing aid in powder form. You need it together with HOT DYE ALL+ if you want to dye polyester or polyester blends in deeper shades. It does not replace the dye: HOT DYE ALL+ has to be bought separately. Dyeing is done with heat on the hob.
The 20 g of powder is enough for approx. 250 g of fabric (dry weight), for example a long-sleeved shirt. Weigh your fabric beforehand and you can easily scale the amount up or down: you need approx. 2 g of accelerator per litre of dye bath.
How to dye polyester with the accelerator
Weigh the dry fabric first, as the amount of dye bath depends on it. Then proceed as follows:
- Wash the fabric to remove dirt, stains or starch, and keep it wet.
- Dissolve the HOT DYE ALL+ dye (20 g) in 0.5–1 litre of boiling water in a heat-resistant container, stirring.
- Bring approx. 9–9.5 litres of water to the boil in a pot on the hob, add 20 g of DYE ACCELERATOR and the dye solution, and stir.
- Add the damp fabric and dye for approx. 30 minutes at approx. 90 °C. Move it gently from side to side and up and down so that the colour is even.
- Leave to cool in hot water that is slightly cooler than the dye bath, because polyester can shrink with a sudden change in temperature.
- Wash out in lukewarm water with a dash of washing-up liquid, rinse under running water, dry in the shade and use a cloth when ironing.
Colour intensity and results
For lighter shades, use less dye; do not reduce the accelerator. For deeper shades, use 1.5 to 2 times the amount of dye and aid and extend the dyeing time to 30–60 minutes. You can also combine both. Miyacozome colours can be mixed. The stated colour is only achieved on white fabric; on coloured fabric, the original colour affects the result. Mixed fabrics, lace or embroidery may take up the colour unevenly, and fabrics made of the same fibre can also turn out patchy depending on the weaving or finishing process.
- Not suitable: fabrics that must be dry-cleaned, and fabrics that lose their shape easily or difficult to handle.
- Dyed polyester cannot be decolourised again.
- With plastic containers, the dye may stick to the surface.
- Do not wash dyed fabrics together with other fabrics.
