Prym mattress needles 250 mm – extra long needles for upholstery work

Prym mattress needles (art. no. 131490) are extra long hand sewing needles made of hardened steel for upholstery work. At 250 mm long and 2.35 mm thick, they let you pass thread through thick fillings such as mattresses, seat cushions or other padded items. The needles have an eye and a point at one end. The card contains 2 needles.

The hardened steel keeps the needles stable even in thick materials. You need the extra length when an ordinary hand sewing needle will not reach the opposite side.

Working with mattress needles

Thread the needle with strong thread and push it straight through the padding until it comes out on the other side. With tightly packed filling, a thimble helps you push the needle through. Pull the needle out straight so that it does not bend. This lets you tack padding, attach buttons or fabric covers right through the whole cushion, or stitch fillings where a short needle is not long enough.
