PRYM 17 mm Buttons – Sturdy Two-Hole Buttons with a Pearl Effect

PRYM buttons are semi-transparent two-hole buttons with a pearl effect, for overalls, pyjamas and household textiles. Each card holds 15 buttons, 17 mm in diameter. They are made of plastic (100 % polyester) and, according to Prym, are washable up to 95 °C and can be ironed. You can therefore sew them onto textiles that are washed often and at high temperatures.

The pearly, translucent look is subtle and suits light and coloured fabrics alike. The two sewing holes make them easy to sew on, including when you replace single buttons on workwear or bed linen.

What the buttons are suited to

Prym lists overalls and pyjamas as their intended use; the buttons also suit household textiles such as pillowcases or bed linen. As they are washable up to 95 °C, they are suitable for items that are regularly washed hot, such as workwear. At 17 mm they are larger than typical shirt buttons and are easy to grip.

Sewing on the buttons

Sew the buttons on with doubled thread through both holes, leaving a little slack between button and fabric, which you then wrap with a few turns of thread at the end to form a shank. This way the button does not sit too tight against the fabric and the edge of the buttonhole lies flat. For garments with several buttons, buy enough cards at once so that all the buttons come from the same pack.
