The round wooden disc from Stafil has a diameter of 300 mm, is 5 mm thick and has a 10 mm hole in the centre. You can turn it into a clock face for a wall clock, a sign or a round decorative base.

The surface is smooth and the edge slightly rounded. You can paint, stain, varnish or decorate the disc. On a clock, the centred hole takes the spindle of the clock movement.

Turning the disc into a clock

Before buying the clock movement, check that the spindle fits through the 10 mm hole and that the thread length suits the disc thickness of 5 mm. On a clock face, the hour markings sit at 30° intervals around the hole. Mark them lightly in pencil before painting.

Painting, staining, varnishing

Wood absorbs paint and stain to different degrees. Sand the surface lightly if needed and test your design first on an inconspicuous spot. A primer helps give an even, opaque coat of paint; with stain, the wood grain remains visible.
