ABIG lino roller 120 mm wide, Ø 30 mm, with wooden handle

ABIG lino roller 120 × 30 mm – even ink coverage for lino printing

The ABIG lino roller (art. no. 13100) spreads printing ink evenly over the printing plate when lino printing. It has a diameter of 30 mm and is 120 mm wide. That lets you cover small to medium-sized plates in just a few passes.

The wooden handle sits comfortably in the hand, and the frame is made of flat steel according to the manufacturer. The rests hold the roller above the tabletop when you put it down, so the layer of ink does not end up on the table. This keeps your workspace clean, even when you pause between prints.

Applying the ink

Put a little lino printing ink on a smooth plate and roll it out in different directions to form a thin, even film. Only when the roller is evenly coated all the way round do you roll it over the lino plate, in several directions. The most common mistake is too much ink: it squeezes into the recessed areas when printing and smudges fine lines. It is better to apply two thin layers than one thick one.

Resting and cleaning

Between prints, rest the roller on its rests. Clean it straight after printing, while the ink is still fresh. The right cleaning agent depends on your printing ink: water for water-based ink and a cleaner for oil-based ink.
