Upholstery nails have long been used in furniture making. You can line them up close together to form a continuous decorative edge, or space them apart for a looser, quite different look.

How to fit the upholstery nails

Mark the row of nails beforehand with a pencil or tape measure so that the spacing is even. Position the nails on the stretched cover and hammer them in straight. Strike only the head, otherwise the brass surface will get scratched. At 13 mm long, the nails suit wooden frames and thinner layers of upholstery.

Which size to choose

The range comes in 8, 9 and 10 mm diameters. The 9 mm nail sits in the middle: it makes a more noticeable accent than 8 mm, but looks less bulky than 10 mm. Please note that the 9 mm pack contains 55 nails, while the 10 mm pack contains only 45. Work out the length of your row before you order.
