Powertex Ivory – opaque universal medium for hardening and shaping

Powertex Ivory (Elfenbein) is a water-based universal medium that hardens absorbent materials such as textiles, paper, card, leather or plush. You can use it for mixed-media projects, pictures, decorative objects and jewellery. The medium is opaque, so you get an ivory-coloured finish that you can paint over with acrylic or oil paints if you wish.

Powertex is low-odour, water-soluble and UV-resistant, and it dries quickly. It works particularly well with natural materials. You can also mix it with sand, wood flour, Stone Art, Easy3Dflex or pigments to make textured pastes or modelling compounds. Choose the container size from the options.

Working with Powertex

For fabric or paper, soak the material in the medium, squeeze out the excess liquid and drape it over a form or lay it on your work surface. You can still arrange the folds until it hardens. The medium dries quickly, but full hardening takes about two to three weeks. For pictures, you can apply Powertex with a brush, build up textures with sand or wood flour and work over them with acrylic or oil paint once dry. Clean brushes and hands with water while the medium is still wet.

Surfaces, outdoor use and storage

Powertex mainly hardens absorbent materials. It does not adhere reliably to plastic or smooth surfaces such as glass, so test it first on an inconspicuous area. Once fully hardened, protect objects for outdoor use with a waterproof varnish. Store the medium frost-free, as it is not frost-resistant in liquid form.
