Powertex transparent – fabric hardener for mixed media and objects
Powertex transparent is a water-based fabric hardener and medium for mixed media projects such as pictures, paintings, decorative objects or jewellery. It hardens absorbent materials such as textiles, paper, card, leather, plush or fibreglass mats. Natural materials work best.
The liquid is white and dries matt and transparent. The patterns and colours of the hardened material therefore remain visible. Powertex adheres to all materials except plastic. Choose your size from the options.
Using Powertex
To harden fabric, dip the material in Powertex, squeeze it out well and drape it over your object or shape it freely. Brush the medium onto paper, card or leather. Because the medium leaves patterns and colours visible, printed or dyed fabrics look the same after drying as before. You can colour Powertex beforehand with Powercolor, Colortricx or Liquidpower.
Mixing textures and pastes
Powertex can be mixed with sand, wood flour, Stone Art and Easy3Dflex. This gives you texture pastes or modelling compounds for creating relief-like surfaces. Powertex does not adhere to plastic, so use a different base or an intermediate layer.
Outdoor objects
Transparent is not weatherproof. Leave pictures or objects for outdoor use to cure fully for two to three weeks, then protect them with a waterproof varnish.
