Rayher wax dye pigment sticks – 5 sticks for colouring candles
Rayher wax dye pigment sticks (art. no. 31640990) colour candle wax for casting and dipping candles. You add one stick to the melted wax and get an even colour. According to Rayher, one stick is enough for approx. 500 g of wax, so at this quantity you can work without weighing out the pigment.
The bag contains 5 sticks in a rainbow assortment, in shades of yellow, orange, red and violet. According to Rayher, the pigments are mixable and lightfast. You can combine the shades to create your own colours, and the colour should not fade quickly when exposed to light.
How to colour wax
Melt the wax in a bain-marie and add the stick to the liquid wax. Stir until the pigment has dissolved completely and the colour is even. Only then pour the wax into the mould or dip the candle. Do not heat the mixture more than necessary: if it overheats, the wax and pigment can separate. Pour a small amount into a cup beforehand, and once it has cooled you will see what the colour really looks like.
Dosing and mixing
Use one stick for 500 g of wax. If you want a very pale colour, you need correspondingly less pigment, for example for soft pastel shades. Because the pigments are mixable, you can make further shades from the five sticks, such as a warm red-orange or pink and violet nuances. Note down your mixing ratio so that you can repeat the shade for the next candle.
