da Vinci Paddle Brush Series 2427 flat brush, synthetic bristles

da Vinci Paddle Brush Series 2427 – flat brush for priming and large areas

The da Vinci Paddle Brush Series 2427 is a flat brush with a wide head and an extra-short wooden handle. You can use it for priming, glazing and opaque paint application on canvas, paper or wood, mainly with acrylic and oil paints.

The bristles are synthetic. The ferrule is made of rustproof stainless steel in DUROPLUS quality. The short, ergonomically shaped handle has a laser-textured grip zone, so it sits securely in the hand. The wood comes from European forestry. Choose your size from the options.

How to apply primer and paint evenly

The wide head covers large areas in just a few strokes. This saves on overlaps, where streaks would otherwise form. The extra-short handle sits close to your hand, so you guide the brush directly from the wrist and feel the pressure on the painting surface.

• Do not load too much paint or primer, and wipe the brush off on the rim of the container.
• Apply in one direction, then lightly smooth the surface crosswise so that brush marks even out.
• Work quickly while the paint is wet to avoid visible overlaps.
• Clean the brush straight after painting. Dried paint at the base of the bristles makes them splay.

What the Paddle Brush is suited to – and what it is not

The flat brush is suited to priming, glazing and opaque paint application, for example for backgrounds on canvas or for priming wood. For fine details, outlines or small shapes, you are better off with a narrower round or flat brush. How wide the brush head is depends on the size you choose from the options. The larger your area, the wider the head can be.
