The da Vinci MAESTRO 2 flat brush, series 7123, is a bristle brush for oil and acrylic painting. It has medium-length, strong Chungking bristles and is suited to broad, impasto paint application on wet, wiped-down painting surfaces. Choose your size from the options.

The bristles are made with an implanted ferrule end: the bristle body sits deep inside the seamless ferrule. This gives the brush elasticity and spring, so it returns to shape after each stroke. The long handle, glazed red with a black end, keeps your hand at a distance from the canvas, so you can paint at the easel with a good overview.

Working with the flat brush

The flat shape covers an area in a single stroke. Use the broad side to apply paint generously and the narrow edge to make clean lines and edges. Chungking bristles are strong and hold their shape. They pick up thick paint and push it evenly across the painting surface, even in impasto application. For fine detail, a round brush is a better choice.

Care

Wash acrylic paint out of the ferrule with water and soap while it is still wet, as it is hard to remove once dry. Remove oil paint with brush cleaner or white spirit, then wash the brush with mild soap. Leave it to dry lying flat or hanging, and do not stand it on its bristles, so that its shape is preserved.
