The da Vinci Face Painting Set Series 5219 (SYNTHETICS) contains three brushes for face and body painting: one round brush size 2 and two flat brushes in sizes 6 and 8. The elastic synthetic fibres pick up paint well and release it in a controlled way. You can use the round brush for fine lines and details, and the flat brushes to cover areas.

The brushes have seamless ferrules and short, hexagonal handles with a matt black finish. With the short handle you work close to the design, keeping your hand near the tip.

Using the three brushes

The size 2 round brush is the narrowest in the set. Use the tip to draw fine outlines, lashes, dots or ornaments; with a little more pressure the lines become wider. The two flat brushes in sizes 6 and 8 fill areas such as cheeks, forehead or arms. If you stand them on the narrow edge, they also produce straight, clean lines. Use the larger brush for areas and the smaller one for edges to keep the transitions neat.

Application and care

Pick up only a little paint and apply two thin layers rather than one thick one, which can crack as it dries. Use only paints that are expressly intended for use on skin. After painting, clean the brushes with lukewarm water and mild soap until no paint remains in the ferrule, and leave them to dry lying flat. If you are painting several people, wash the brushes thoroughly in between.
