Noris junior safety scissors – first cutting practice with rounded corners

The Staedtler Noris junior safety scissors (art. no. 965 40 BK) are scissors for toddlers, made for first cutting and crafting practice with paper. The corners are rounded, and at approx. 10 cm the scissors are short and extra light. The handle fits small children's hands, and while cutting, your child practises fine motor skills through play.

The scissors cut paper only, not hair or textiles. That makes sense for beginners, as they are limited to paper and thin craft sheets. They are a right-handed model and come singly on a cardboard card.

Making the first cuts

Start with wide strips of paper and let your child simply cut straight across. Straight lines come next, then curves and simple shapes such as a circle or a cloud. Thin craft paper is easier to cut than thick card. As the scissors are intended for paper only, you should not use them to cut foil, fabric or hair. Stay close by while your child is crafting and show them how to hold the scissors.
