Tula Nova acrylic templates – 7 cutting templates for English paper piecing and fussy cutting

The Tula Nova Acrylic Fabric Cutting Template Set from Paper Pieces contains 7 cutting templates (A–G) in transparent pink acrylic. You use them to cut fabric pieces for English paper piecing, to go with the Tula Pink quilt pattern "Tula Nova". The templates are designed for a 3/8 inch (approx. 9.5 mm) seam allowance.

As the acrylic is see-through, you can see the fabric motif when you place the template and position it exactly (fussy cutting). Flowers, ornaments or stripes land exactly where you want them in the mandala style. The pattern with the paper pieces is not included and is a separate product.

Using the templates

Place the template on the right side of the fabric and line it up with the motif you want. Then draw around it with a fabric marking pen or cut directly along the edge. The pieces you need are transferred to the fabric with a consistent seam allowance. Then baste the fabric around the paper pieces as you would for English paper piecing.

What to know before buying

The set belongs to the quilt pattern "Tula Nova", a lap-size quilt or wall hanging in mandala style measuring 56 × 56 inches (approx. 142 × 142 cm). You will also need the pattern and the paper pieces. The templates are designed for a 3/8 inch seam allowance; Paper Pieces also offers the set with 1/4 inch, so check that you choose the right version.
