Key Fob Clamp with Split Ring – Make Your Own Keyrings

With the key fob clamp you can make your own keyrings from ready-made or self-cut strapping. You clamp in webbing, felt, tarpaulin or ribbons and hang your keys on the split ring. The ring is already fitted to the clamp, so there is nothing to assemble.

The clamp is made of nickel-plated steel. It is available in several widths. Choose the width from the options to match your strap.

Making a keyring

Cut your strap to the length you want and make sure the edge is cut straight. To stop synthetic webbing from fraying, briefly seal the edge. Felt does not fray and can be used straight away. Place the end of the strap in the clamp and press it shut; pliers make this more even. Finally, hang your key on the ring.

Which width fits?

Measure the width of your strap and choose the clamp in exactly that width. If the strap is narrower than the clamp, it sits loosely and can slip out. If it is wider, it will not fit in at all. With tarpaulin or thick felt, it is best to try an offcut first to see whether it clamps in cleanly.
