Prym Vario-Plus No-Sew Assortment Box – Attach Press Studs and Eyelets Without Sewing

The Prym Vario-Plus No-Sew assortment box (art. no. 651420) is a basic assortment for fixing press studs and eyelets to fabric without sewing. The sturdy case with a transparent lid holds pliers, hole-punching and riveting tools, plus 40 snap fasteners in four versions and 50 eyelets in two colours. Instructions for use are included for each item.

The assortment is refillable: when individual types run out, you can top them up with the matching Prym refill packs, without buying the box or tools again.

Attaching a snap fastener

No-sew snap fasteners consist of several parts, which the pliers join in the fabric by pressing them together. The exact steps for each type are given in the instructions enclosed. In general, you proceed as follows:

• Mark the position on the fabric
• Make the hole with the hole-punching tool
• Insert the top and bottom parts of the snap fastener
• Press firmly together with the pliers and the matching tool

Which type for which use?

The names indicate where each type is used: Anorak and Sport & Camping (15 mm each) are the larger snap fasteners for jackets and outdoor textiles, while Jersey (10 mm) is the smaller size for finer fabrics. Anorak comes in silver colour and burnished finish; the eyelets (4 mm) come in silver colour and gold colour. Test the type on a fabric offcut before use, so that the snap fastener sits securely and the fabric does not tear.
